Ottawa, Janary 5, 2012 – For immediate release

The Prix Rideau Awards held its second Annual General Meeting on December 5th. Many goals set out by the organization were met during the past year. In addition to setting up a five person Board, in 2010-2011, the Prix Rideau Awards completed a full revision of the terms and eligibility criteria, reviewed job and responsibility descriptions of each members of the Steering Committee and created an annual calendar to help with the organization of the annual gala.

Last year’s gala, which was held at La Maison du Citoyen de Gatineau, was truly a success and we would like to thank everyone who contributed to making it a memorable evening: our sponsors, donors, funders, volunteers, Steering Committee members, Board members, the media who covered the event, and local artists and audience members who were in attendance. Without your support and generosity, this event would not have been possible.

During the second annual general meeting, five members were elected and re-elected to the organization’s Board of Directors. Ian R. Stauffer, lawyer and longtime participant of the GCTC’s Lawyer Play, will continue to chair the board. Tracey Black, executive chef and owner of Epicuria Fine Food Store and Catering, will continue to act as Treasurer. Teri Loreto, current English Co-Chair of the Steering Committee, has replaced Paulette Gagnon as Secretary. Judi Pearl and Yves Turbide, former Co-Chairs of the Prix Rideau Awards, will continue to sit on the board.

The Steering Committee and the Board of Directors would like to take the time to thank Paulette Gagnon, who stepped down as secretary this past September, for her contribution to the board this past year. She contributed time and energy in the service of the organization, helping us secure grants and funding that is pivotal to our success. We would also like to thank Judi Pearl and Yves Turbide, co-chairs of the Prix Rideau Awards, for their rigorous leadership and vision. Both, although stepping down from their positions with the Steering Committee, will remain as invaluable resources for the organization as they will continue sitting on our Board of Directors. And finally, we would like to thank Alix Sideris, party planner par excellence, for her contribution to the organization of our annual gala these past years. We wish all of you best for your future projects. In addition to these changes and departures, the Prix Rideau Awards has welcomed new members to its Steering Committee who will help with the continuation of the organizations mandate.

The Prix Rideau Awards is pleased to announce the date of its upcoming nominations event. A 5 à 7 will be held at Le Petit Chicago in Gatineau (Hull) on Monday, February 27, 2012.
